A major junction in Chalvey has had a makeover with six new planters filled with flowers installed on the guard railings.

Image of the new plantersNew litter bins have also been added to the junction of Chalvey High Street, Church Street, Darvills Lane and Chalvey Road West.

Large ground-level planters, filled with colourful flowers will also be installed along the main roads in the Chalvey area in the next few weeks.

The move comes following a consultation with local residents where Slough Borough Council asked what local people wanted to happen in their area.

More than half of local people who responded by post and at the special consultation event said they wanted the council to improve the look of the streets.

Councillor James Swindlehurst, commissioner for neighbourhoods and renewal, said: “We will be feeding back to Chalvey residents very soon on our plans for the new community hub and the local area as a whole but we are already taking action on one of their main issues – improving the look of the streets.

“These new planters on the guard railings have already brightened the area up and the new ground level flowers will really have an impact too.

“We want to make sure Chalvey is an area on the up and these improvements are part of an overall plan to regenerate the Chalvey area and make the local environment better for residents.”

He added: “We consulted with Action4Chalvey to agree street improvements and the Chalvey Community Forum has already commented on how much they like the new flowers so we hope other local residents will too.”
